Crown to seek dangerous offender assessment of serial child rapist

VANCOUVER – Sentencing for a serial child rapist who pleaded guilty to six assaults on six different victims has been delayed, after the Crown and defence were unable to agree on the facts.

The case of Ibata Hexamer will return to court in two weeks, when the Crown will ask for a psychiatric assessment to determine whether to seek dangerous or long-term offender status for the man.

Crown lawyer Elliott Poll (Paul) says Hexamer pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault and two counts of unlawful confinement in cases dating back 15 years.

The victims range in age from six years old to 14.

Hexamer, a former DJ and political campaign volunteer, came to court dressed in a patterned sweater and stark white prison-issue running shoes.

He’s been in custody since his December 2010 arrest and has had four different defence lawyers.
