Kelowna jewelry store employees tied up and robbed

KELOWNA – Two jewelry store employees were tied up and robbed in Kelowna yesterday.

Kelowna RCMP were called to Cooper Jewellers in Orchard Plaza Tuesday, Nov. 29 after a hold up alarm was triggered. The two suspects “physically restrained” the two employees and left with an undisclosed amount of merchandise, according to a media release from Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

No weapons were used however one of the men was wearing a mask.

The investigation is still in the early stages however police believe the suspects were spooked by a member of the public outside the store.

They fled in a dark-coloured SUV towards Springfield Road.

“The employees who had been bound for several minutes, did not appear to be injured,” O’Donaghey says in the release.

RCMP describe the suspects both male, dark skinned, tall and slender. They were  dressed in black.

The Kelowna RCMP General Investigations Section has assumed conduct of the ongoing investigation.
