KAMLOOPS – Pull on your warmest boots, Kamloops residents, the winter weather is coming.
December begins with a peek at the sun, according to Environment Canada. Today, Dec. 1, promises a mix of sun and clouds throughout the region, with a high temperature of 4 Celsius and a chance of flurries tonight. The overnight low of -1 C is a harbinger of weather to come.
Snow sport enthusiasts have reason to get excited — cold weather and precipitation mean lots of the fluffy stuff in the hills. In the city, however, it won’t be such a winter wonderland.
The forecast calls for gray skies and snow on Friday, and a high of only 2 C. Temperatures will dip to -1 C overnight, but the snow won't continue.
A mix of sun and clouds is in order for Saturday, and the mercury will reach 4 C, which is just warm enough to turn any leftover snow to slush. An overnight low of -1 C is in keeping with seasonal averages. That chill in the air will last through Sunday, when gray skies return and temperatures will only reach 2 C. Chilly overnight temperatures of -7 C on Sunday will clear up any confusion about which season we’re in.
The clouds and cold temperatures are typical for December in Kamloops.
