Kelowna teens charged with two robberies in three hours

KELOWNA – Charges have been laid against two teenagers police say used a knife to rob a gas station and a convenience store the same night this week.

Cabe William McFadyen and Alan Stuart Metcalfe, both 19 years old, were arrested in the early morning hours of Nov. 29.

A media release says the pair entered the Chevron station on Gordon Drive shortly after midnight.

“The clerk saw the men appeared to be armed and locked himself inside a staff area at the gas station,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said. “Video surveillance shows the men grabbing tobacco products before they took off.”

Two and a half hours later police were called to another armed robbery at a Mac’s convenience store not far away.

The release says the two men robbed the clerk at knifepoint and left with some cash and tobacco product but RCMP members swarmed the area and one of the suspects was seen in the 3100 block of De Montreuil Court and arrested after a foot chase.

O’Donaghey says not long after an area resident reported seeing the second suspect who was "found hiding on the roof of a nearby carport.”

McFadyen and Metcalfe are each charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of disguising face with intent to commit a crime.

They are being held in custody pending bail hearings.
