Displaced residents, extensive damage after Kelowna house fire

KELOWNA – Two residents were taken to the hospital today with minor injuries following an early morning house fire.

Fire crews responded the house fire in the 2600 block of Springfield Road at 7:22 a.m today, Dec. 3, Platoon Captain Tim Light says in a media release.

Light says crews worked fast to extinguish the blaze, but damage is extensive and the residents cannot return home until restoration work is complete.

Two residents were taken to the hospital with injuries from smoke inhalation and minor burns, according to Light.

Emergency Support Services were called to help the occupants when they are released from the hospital.

"The investigation into the cause will begin Monday, but at this time, the Kelowna Fire Department does not think it is suspicious," Light says.
