Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down 13 cents, or 4.56 per cent, to $2.72 on 15.8 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 0.52 per cent, to $1.94 on 12.6 million shares.

Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX:WCP). Oil and gas. Up 60 cents, or 9.39 per cent, to $6.99 on 11.7 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 31 cents, or 6.53 per cent, to $5.06 on 9.5 million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Up 28 cents, or 5.63 per cent, to $5.25 on 8.3 million shares.

Capstone Infrastructure Corp. (TSX:CSE). Utilities. Up $1.27, or 37.35 per cent, to $4.67 on 7.9 million shares. A U.K.-based investment fund is preparing to take over Capstone Infrastructure through a friendly $480-million cash deal announced Wednesday by the Toronto-based alternative-energy company. The transaction will be done by Irving Infrastructure Corp., owned by a fund run by London-based iCON Infrastructure.

Cominar REIT (TSX: CUF.UN). Real estate. Down 11 cents, or 0.76 per cent, to $14.39 on 399,355 shares. The Cominar real estate trust says its investors will continue to get regular cash distributions each month but will no longer have the option to get the payments in the form of equity units because their value has fallen so low.
