Former rap mogul Suge Knight gets new lawyers in murder case

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Former rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has a new lawyer in a murder case filed after Knight ran over two men in a parking lot last year in Compton, California.

Attorney Stephen Schwartz has replaced Thomas Mesereau, who won an acquittal for Michael Jackson on child molestation charges.

The move came Thursday after a closed session proceeding.

Mesereau declined comment on the change.

Knight has repeatedly shuffled his legal team, and Schwartz is the fifth lawyer to represent him in the case. Attorney Thaddeus Culpepper, who has been part of the case since May, will remain on Knight’s legal team.

Knight has pleaded not guilty and claimed self-defence after he was seen on security video running over two men last February, killing one and seriously injuring the other.
