Okanagan College launches pilot program for trades training

KELOWNA – Okanagan College is set to receive more than $218,000 for a pilot program.

The goal is to improve employability and training outcomes for apprentices, according to a B.C. government media release.

The pilot program is taking place at Okanagan College for the level 1 electrician program.

The release states the aim is to develop a hybrid teaching model that includes face-to-face instruction and adds e-learning to the curriculum.

"We are extremely excited to have been given the opportunity to develop this innovative pilot," Okanagan College dean of trades and apprenticeship Steve Moores says in the release. "We believe this hybrid model, with collaboration of and evaluation by industry partners, will provide flexibility of delivery without compromising learning outcomes and industry standards."
