Midday fire in Kelowna quickly snuffed; cause unknown

KELOWNA – Investigators are on the scene trying to find the cause of midday structure fire.

Around 11:36 a.m. the Kelowna Fire Department was alerted to smoke and flames coming from a garage on Pacific Avenue. Firefighters attended the location, contained the flames and put the fire out quickly.

The structure was a boarded up garage or shed, but it appears someone was living inside, according to a fire department press release. No one was found inside or injured.

No cause was discovered, so investigators are on the scene to try and figure out what happened.

Three engines, a rescue unit, a command vehicle and a safety vehicle were at the site with 16 crew members.
