The week ahead in Kamloops looks sunny but very cold

KAMLOOPS – The arctic air will continue to give well below normal temperatures in Kamloops this week, but at least the sun will be shining.

Today, Dec. 12, will be the warmest day of the week with a high of -10 Celsius, and a mix of sun and cloud, according to Environment Canada.

The forecast calls for sunshine tomorrow, with a high of -12 C and a low of -18 C. On Wednesday, more sunshine, but continuing cold with a daytime high of -14 and a low of -17.

Thursday will be the coldest day of the week with a high of -15 C, and an overnight low of -18 C. The forecast also calls for a 40 per cent chance of flurries on Thursday.

On Friday, the sunshine returns with a high of -13 C and a low of -18 C.

The city could break some cold temperature records this week, especially on Thursday. The previous record on that day was set in 1972 when the mercury dropped to -18.3 C overnight.

Seasonal average temperatures for this time of year are highs around 0 C and lows of -6 C.
