Okanagan in a deep freeze this week

KELOWNA – The flow of arctic air will continue to invade the Okanagan this week, with temperatures well below season normals for this time of year. The good news is it will be mainly sunny until the snow returns on Thursday.

Environment Canada's forecast says today, Dec. 12, will be the warmest day of the week with a high of -7 Celsius in Kelowna and Vernon, dropping to -12 overnight, with a mix of sun and cloud. Penticton will be warmer, relatively speaking, with a high at -5 C today.

Mainly sunny again tomorrow in the Okanagan, but slightly colder, with highs around -9 C and lows of -14 C.

The forecast calls for sunshine on Wednesday with a high of  -12 C and a low of -16 C.

Periods of snow are forecast for Thursday with a high of -11 C. Expect flurries overnight Thursday with the mercury dropping to -16 C.

The snow clears on Friday, with a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 13 C and an overnight low of -15 C.

Season normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of 0 C and lows of -4 C.
