Event-filled weekend might see some rain
PENTICTON – There's almost too much to see during Penticton Peach Festival this weekend but that might change if the weather doesn't hold.
Friday night will have a few clouds and a low of 17 C while Saturday will have a mix of sun and clouds, a high of 34 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon. Sunday will be about the same but with a high of only 30 C.
Events such as the Pow Wow Highlights Aboriginal Village in Gyro Park will be running most of Friday (and Saturday) which puts it in conflict with Okanagan Park performances such as the Black Widow Rope Spinners skipping team, the Dream High Crew dancers and the Judy and the Sugar Daddies. Every event is free though so visitors can simply walk back and forth between the two areas. The on-stage headliner for Friday night will be One More Girl.
The Peachpit Pentown Throwdown skateboard and BMX competition will tear it up at Penticton Youth Park on West Riverside Drive and will feature top boarders and BMX riders. Amateur and pro-level competitions will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday the Peters Bros Grande Parade will roll out on Main Street starting on Eckhardt Avenue at 10 a.m. It'll head north to Lakeshore Drive, where it takes a left and heads to the S.S. Sicamous. There will be floats from the community as well as from out-of-town and from across the border.
There are 18 acts scheduled to be on stage at Okanagan Park starting at 11:30 a.m. with Beamer Wigley. Other musicians and acts such as The Steadies and the Peach Trio Circus will continue the fun. Saturday night's headliner will be the band Dr. Strangelove.
On Sunday the Okanagan Park stage has another full line up starting at 11:45 a.m. with the Kiddies Day Parade Prizes and ending with the headliner Killarney at 9 p.m.
