Soccer team air crash survivor returns to Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO – A soccer player who survived an air crash that killed most of his teammates has returned to Brazil.
Doctors say goalkeeper Jackson Follmann of the Chapecoenese soccer team is well enough to have back surgery on Tuesday following his arrival in Sao Paulo.
The goalie had part of his right leg amputated in Medellin, Colombia after the Nov. 28 crash that killed 71 people, including 19 players. Two other survivors were also returning to Brazil on Tuesday.
Defender Alan Ruschel and journalist Rafael Henzel were travelling to the southern Brazilian city of Chapeco.
Another survivor is defender Neto, who remains serious condition in Colombia.
Two Bolivian members of the air crew also survived the crash.
