PENTICTON – Three handguns were stolen during a Penticton break-in last week.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says there was a break and enter at a home on Atkinson Street on Friday, Dec. 9.
He says thieves entered the home through the back door, taking three handguns from hidden safes. A Smith & Wesson .22 calibre long revolver, a .44 Magnum Ruger Red Hawk and a .357 Smith & Wesson magnum were stolen.
Jewellery in the safes was also taken, as well as a backpack containing hunting gear.
Wrigglesworth says the teenage son of the homeowner, who wasn’t in school that day, heard someone come into the residence and who said “hello.” The youth didn’t see the person, but assumed it was one of his parent’s friends.
