Canada’s Maxence Parrot edges McMorris to win gold in big air at X-Games

ASPEN, Colo. – Maxence Parrot is back atop the X-Games podium.

The 21-year-old from Bromont, Que., had 93.00 points to capture the big air event on Friday — edging out fellow Canadian Mark McMorris.

Parrot scored 45.00 points on his first run before tacking on another 48.00 points on his second.

McMorris, from Regina, had 91.00 total points for second with Japan’s Yuki Kadono taking third with 88.00 points. Eight snowboarders competed in the event.

McMorris took the gold medal last year at the X-Games, with Parrot taking the title the year before. McMorris needed 47.00 points on his final run Friday to claim first, but failed to reach that mark.

The big air event will be featured at the Pyongyang 2018 Winter Olympics.
