West Kelowna man facing attempted murder charge in connection with November shooting

WEST KELOWNA – A 35-year-old West Kelowna man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in the city last month.

Jeremy Matherly has been taken into custody and formally charged, RCMP say in a media release. The man was taken into custody yesterday, Dec. 15 and appeared in Kelowna Law Courts today. He's expected to be back in court on Dec. 20.

West Kelowna RCMP say they are continuing to investigate the shooting on Nov. 6 in the 1800 block of Boucherie Road.

Police said at the time two suspects were taken into custody after allegedly attacking a man with bear spray before shooting him.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police said on the morning of the shooting they responded to multiple 911 calls of shots fired on Boucherie Road.

Investigators believed at the time it was not a random attack.
