SYLHET, Bangladesh – Canada dropped to 0-3-0 at ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup after losing by four wickets to Afghanistan on Monday.

The Canadian won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 149 all out in its 50 overs. Arslan Khan led the Canadian attack with 38, which included four fours and one six, while captain Abraash Khan contributed 33.

Afghanistan reached the victory target in 25 overs with Ikram Faizi slamming the decisive four for a 149 for six total. Tariq led the Afghans with 56.

Afghanistan (1-2-0) stands third in Pool B behind Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both 2-0-0. The top two teams in each group progress to the Super League stage, while the bottom two sides move on to the consolation Plate Championship.

The 19-day tournament features nine Test-playing countries and seven associate and affiliate members: Canada, Afghanistan, Fiji, Namibia, Nepal, Ireland and Scotland.

The Canadians qualified for the event by going undefeated in four matches at an Americas tournament that included the U.S. and Bermuda.
