Stamps re-sign linebacker Corbin Sharun, release lineman John Estes

CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed national linebacker Corbin Sharun.

Sharun, who had previously spent five seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, was added to Calgary’s practice roster on July 28, 2015, and played in two regular-season games for the Stampeders. The 27-year-old Edmonton native also played in the CFL Western Final and made three special-teams tackles.

He was set to become a free agent on Feb. 9.

“Corbin is a proven veteran who has been a solid special-teams player over the years,” Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel said in a release. “He played well in his limited opportunities for us last year and I look forward to seeing what he can do over a full season.”

In 75 career regular-season contests with Calgary and Edmonton, Sharun has 77 special-teams tackles, three defensive tackles, one punt block and one touchdown.

“I thank Huff and the Stampeders organization for giving me this opportunity to continue my career,” said Sharun. “I’m really looking forward to the season.”

The Stampeders also released international offensive lineman John Estes. The University of Hawaii product signed with the Stamps on July 22, 2015, and dressed for five regular-season games as well as the Western Final.
