Food Network Canada issues casting call for this country’s edition of ‘Chopped’

TORONTO – Food Network Canada is seeking professional chefs with stamina and skills to compete on its new show “Chopped Canada.”

The network issued a casting call Wednesday along with word that it’s producing a Canadian edition of the popular U.S. series, expected to hit the airwaves in the winter of 2014.

The Canadian edition will follow a similar format to the U.S. show, which premiered in 2009. Each week four chefs compete before a panel of judges and turn baskets of mystery ingredients into a three-course meal. Course by course, the chefs are “chopped” from the competition until only one remains and takes home $10,000.

The deadline for applications is March 11 and taping is slated to begin this summer. For more information, visit foodnetwork.ca/castingcall.

Chopped currently airs Tuesdays on Food Network Canada.
