RCMP seek public assistance in Naramata theft

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are looking for tips from the public to recover a stolen welding unit valued at $10,000.

A Miller Trailblazer welder/generator was reported stolen overnight on Thursday, Dec. 15, from a home on Slate Place in Naramata.

Police have no suspects at this time and are asking anyone who might have information regarding the theft to contact the detachment at 250-492-4300, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth also issues some words of advice as city residents prepare for holidays during the Christmas season, perhaps with travel plans in mind.

“It’s a telltale sign that no one is home for an extended period if snow isn’t cleared from your sidewalks and driveways. It can make your house a target to be victimized by a break and enter,” says Wrigglesworth, who advises residents to arrange to have neighbours watch your house, leave a few lights on and make it look like someone is home.
