Silver Star Mountain provides backdrop for car commercial

VERNON – North Okanagan residents, and in particular ski bums, might recognize the backdrop in a new car commercial.

Crews were at Silver Star Mountain Resort this week shooting a new commercial for Kia, according to Kristy Jahn-Smith, with the resort.

Shooting happened on the Creekside and Silver Queen slopes, and involved two Kia cars traversing the hill.

Jahn-Smith says Kia contacted Silver Star some time ago saying it wanted to shoot a commercial where skiers and boarders were invited to be taken up the hill in a car instead of the chairlift.

It’s not the first time the resort has been approached for filming purposes. Not long ago Sony inquired about doing some shooting at the mountain, but the snow conditions weren’t quite right, Jahn-Smith says.

It's unknown when the commercial will air, but if you're from Vernon, you'll probably know it when you see it.
