Premier Clark visits Penticton hospital after doctors say building crumbling

PENTICTON, B.C. – It appears concerns raised by doctors over the deteriorating shape of the hospital in Penticton, B.C., have been heard by the premier.

Christy Clark visited the hospital Friday, just two days after doctors held a town hall meeting that drew nearly 800 people.

The doctors say the 62-year-old building is overcrowded and badly in need of new space and more modern equipment.

Clark didn’t announce any funding, but Lori Motluck of the Interior Health Authority says the premier’s visit alone was progress.

She says Clark saw the challenges that doctors and patients face in the building and promised to push for improvements.

The hospital is asking for $160 million to build a new patient care tower and make other upgrades. (CKOR)
