Toronto Raptors rookie Terrence Ross wins NBA slam dunk competition

HOUSTON – Toronto Raptors rookie guard Terrence Ross is the NBA’s new slam dunk champion.

Ross beat defending dunk champ Jeremy Evans with a pair of monster slams in the final.

Ross paid tribute to the last Raptor to win the competition by wearing an old Vince Carter jersey before taking a pass off the backboard, spinning mid-air and dunking the ball.

For the finale, Ross jumped over a boy, put the ball between his legs and jammed it to bring rap star and Toronto native Drake out of his courtside seat.

The 22-year-old Ross, who was taken eighth overall by the Raptors in last year’s draft, won the contest with 58 per cent of the fan vote.

Ross made it to the final with a perfect score of 50 on his first dunk, and a score of 49 on his second.
