The Future of Cannabis in BC: Sharing knowledge across communities

The emerging topic of cannabis use and its legalization and regulation in Canada is a multidimensional issue that is gaining critical attention. Information regarding cannabis cultivation, distribution, and its consumption is becoming increasingly transparent as policy and legislation are changing.

A first for the interior of BC

A forum entitled, The Future of Cannabis in BC: Sharing Knowledge across Communities, is the first grassroots meeting of industry stakeholders to take place within the interior of BC. This gathering of medical practitioners, scholars, industry experts and politicians will stimulate conversation about the current need for increased awareness of challenges, barriers, lived experiences, implementation and understanding of cannabis uses within Canada. This forum will generate an interdisciplinary exchange of current knowledge about cannabis from multiple perspectives.

Hear from an expert panel

Community participants are invited to hear from local experts, discuss concerns and ask questions. The expert panel will consist of a researcher/scholar, licensed producer, lawyer, representative from the pharmaceutical industry and a political perspective.

The forum will provide participants with direct access to experts in the field who will clarify many of the unknowns regarding cannabis. There will be additional opportunities for participants to take part in discussions and network with speakers regarding implications for cannabis within the greater community.

Plans in the works for a conference

This opportunity will contribute to the planning of a two-day conference scheduled to take place at TRU Oct. 14 and 15, 2017.
