Hamilton scores twice as Comets hand IceCaps fourth straight loss

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Wacey Hamilton had two goals and an assist and Richard Bachman made 40 saves as the Utica Comets downed the St. John’s IceCaps 5-2 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Carter Bancks scored once and set up two more for the Comets (21-17-6), who picked up their third straight win. Joseph LaBate and Hunter Shinkaruk rounded out the offence with a goal apiece.

Bud Holloway and Jacob de la Rose found the back of the net for the IceCaps (19-18-9), who are on a four-game slide.

Zachary Fucale started in net for St. John’s but didn’t last long before getting yanked. Fucale allowed three goals on four shots as the IceCaps fell behind 3-0 just 5:16 into the game. Eddie Pasquale took over and made 26 saves in relief.

Utica went 0 for 4 on the power play while St. John’s scored twice on nine chances with the man advantage.
