Police: Shots fired during New Orleans parade, no injuries

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans police say shots were fired along a Mardi Gras parade route but no one was injured.

Police spokesman Frank Robertson says the gunfire rang out just after 9 p.m. Sunday along the Bacchus parade route on St. Charles Avenue.

Robertson says a suspect or suspects may have escaped into the crowd and a search is underway.

Officers found a handgun in the area.

TV station WBRZ reports the parade was paused for several minutes.
