On the Board: Nova Scotia’s Mary-Anne Arsenault records first win at Scotties

KINGSTON, Ont. – Nova Scotia has its first win at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Mary-Anne Arsenault’s rink defeated Kerry Galusha of the Northwest Territories-Yukon 10-7 in today’s early draw at the K-Rock Centre.

Arsenault — a five-time national women’s curling champion — opened the tournament with four straight losses.

Galusha fell to 1-5 with the defeat.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Stacie Devereaux beat Alberta’s Kristie Moore 8-3, B.C.’s Kelly Scott topped New Brunswick’s Andrea Crawford 13-7 and Prince Edward Island’s Suzanne Birt defeated Quebec’s Allison Ross 8-6 in an extra end.

Team Canada’s Heather Nedohin, Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and Ontario’s Rachel Homan will all take 5-0 records into their games in the evening draw.
