Snowfall warning in effect for Coquihalla from Merritt to Hope

MERRITT – Drivers are being warned to drive to conditions on the Coquihalla this evening and tomorrow, after Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning.

Environment Canada says in a news release 15 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected from a Pacific frontal system. It's expected to snow lightly between Hope and Merritt tonight, then will become heavy at times tomorrow, Dec. 29 as the system moves into the interior.

Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected by tomorrow night.

Environment Canada says visibility may be reduced during periods of heavy snow, with weather changing suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Drivers are being asked to adjust driving to changing road conditions. If visibility is limited while you're driving, turn your lights on and maintain a safe following distance.
