Extra flights added at Kamloops airport to cover ones cancelled by frozen fog

KAMLOOPS – After a day of frozen fog and cancelled flights, the Kamloops Airport is up and running today, Dec. 29, with extra flights to move travellers stuck by the weather.

There will be four added flights to the airport’s schedule from Air Canada Express and one from WestJet to deal with air passengers who weren’t able to travel during yesterday’s fog, according to an airport media release.

Travellers are expected to be notified of the changes, but airport manager Fred Legace says it’s best to check with the airline.

"The arrival of a snow storm across southern B.C. is not expected to cause delays here in Kamloops, but systemic delays may build as a result of delays at other airports," Legace says in the release.

Flights yesterday were cancelled due to frozen fog which greatly reduced visibility, making it unsafe for aircraft to take-off or land in Kamloops.
