Teens arrested downtown after Rutland smash and grab

KELOWNA – Two teenagers were arrested after a smash and grab at a Rutland liquor store this week.

A commercial alarm brought police to a liquor store in the 1600 block of Commerce Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. Dec. 27.

Police arrived on scene and discovered that the front glass door to the business had been smashed out, Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release sent two days after the incident.

“A subsequent review of the store's video surveillance footage showed as the suspects entered the store and selected several bottles of liquor valued at over $450, before they fled the store on foot.”

An 18-year-old Kelowna man and a 15-year-old Kelowna girl were arrested in downtown Kelowna the next day and face several charges.

Names and charges have not been released.
