Southern Interior rings in 2017 with six New Year’s babies

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – Six sets of parents in the Southern Interior are starting 2017 off with a new family member.

There were six babies born at hospitals in the Interior Health region on New Year's Day. The first baby was a girl born at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 1:31 a.m.

After that, Armstrong parents Kimberly Hewitt and Andreas Shannon welcomed baby girl Lucy at Vernon Jubilee Hospital just before 5 a.m.

Penticton parents Tricia Abar and Jay Hamilton welcomed the first baby boy of the group, Cameron Robert, at 7:39 a.m.

At Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, the first afternoon New Year's baby was born. Local parents Patricia and Brad Kozubski welcomed a baby boy at 2:15 p.m.

Getting into the evening hours, baby boy Lachlan was born to Kelowna parents Courtney and Cam Egan at 5:21 p.m. at Kelowna General Hospital.

The last baby born on Jan. 1 was Kingzley, a boy born to Kelli Cooper of Ti’etinqox in the Alexis Creek area. Kingzley was born at 9:20 p.m. at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.
