Prosecutors file charges in fatal Juneau stabbing

JUNEAU, Alaska – A 39-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in a fatal Juneau stabbing.

Fenton Jacobs also was charged Friday with two counts of second-degree murder, harassment and resisting arrest in the death of 47-year-old William Campbell.

Juneau police took a 911 call shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday reporting a fistfight on a downtown street. About a minute later, a second call came in reporting a man had been stabbed.

Officers found Campbell on the ground bleeding from the torso. He was rushed to Bartlett Regional Hospital in critical condition and put on a medical flight to Seattle. Police say he died on the flight.

Jacobs is represented by the Juneau public defender’s office, which did not immediately respond to an email request for comment Friday afternoon.
