Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 18 cents, or 14.52 per cent, to $1.42 on 18.3 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 31 cents, or 9.17 per cent, to $3.69 on 16.6 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 49 cents, or 13.69 per cent, to $4.07 on 16.2 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance, financial Services. Down $1.47, or 8.49 per cent, to $15.84 on 14.8 million shares. Manulife Financial Corp. saw a 62 per cent drop in fourth-quarter profit, largely from losses in its oil and gas investments. The Toronto-based company reported net income of $246 million or 11 cents a share for the three-month period ended Dec. 31.

Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX:LSG). Miner. Up 17 cents, or 11.11 per cent, to $1.70 on 11.4 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 59 cents, or 3.66 per cent, to $16.70 on 10.2 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 0.02 per cent, to $48.24 on 1.7 million shares. TransCanada Corp. increased its quarterly dividend to 56.5 cents per share from 52 cents despite reporting it lost $2.5 billion in the fourth quarter, mostly because of its stalled Keystone XL pipeline proposal. The Calgary-based company took a $2.9-billion, non-cash charge related to Keystone XL which was blocked by U.S. President Barack Obama late last year.
