Manitoba’s Jones advances to Scotties finals with 8-5 win over Nedohin

KINGSTON, Ont. – Jennifer Jones has booked her spot in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts final.

The Manitoba skip defeated Team Canada’s Heather Nedohin 8-5 in Sunday’s semifinal.

Jones will play Ontario’s Rachel Homan for the gold medal later in the day.

Down 4-2, Jones tied the match with two in the seventh and then stole two in the eighth to pull ahead 6-4.

Nedohin scored one in the ninth but couldn’t complete the comeback in the 10th.

Nedohin will play B.C.’s Kelly Scott for the bronze medal in the afternoon game.

The Scotties winner will represent Canada at next month’s world women’s curling championship in Riga, Latvia.

The top two teams at the Scotties receive $15,500 in prize money, the third-place team gets $12,000 and the fourth-place team receives $7,000. Teams finishing fifth through 12th receive $3,400 each.
