Nazem Kadri sits out second straight for Maple Leafs with lower-body injury

VANCOUVER – Toronto Maple Leafs centre Nazem Kadri missed Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks with a lower-body injury.

The 25-year-old also sat out Thursday’s 5-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Kadri has 11 goals and 17 assists in 52 games this season.

The injury-plagued Leafs turned to Peter Holland as the club’s first-line centre for the second straight game.

Toronto, which sits last in the NHL, also placed defenceman Jared Cowen and forward Josh Leivo on injured reserve and recalled forwards Brendan Leipsic and Jeremy Morin from the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.

Leipsic made his NHL debut for the Leafs.
