Pedestrian dies in Vancouver Island crash, police seeking witnesses

VICTORIA – Police on Vancouver Island are hoping to speak with anyone who witnessed a fatal pedestrian collision.

Central Saanich Police say the crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday and left a woman in her late 40s dead.

She was hit (on Mount Newton Cross Road) by a man driving an SUV.

Police say there’s no suggestion either alcohol or speed played a factor in the incident.

The woman was taken to hospital where she was declared dead.

Deputy Police Chief Derren Lench says officers are still trying to determine where she was hit. (CFAX)
