No arrests in Penticton gas station robbed by man with knife

PENTICTON – RCMP haven't made any arrests following an armed robbery at a Penticton gas station last week.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 a man with a jumped over the counter at the Fairview Road Shell gas station brandishing a curved knife.

The suspect demanded money and cartons of cigarettes, and took the store’s cashbox with about $250 inside.

Wrigglesworth says while the armed robber was momentarily distracted with the cashbox, the employee ran out of the store to enlist help.

The suspect got away in a white vehicle with a second person at the wheel.

While police were investigating, a second call came in regarding a white Buick found abandoned on Granby Street, not far from the robbery scene, Wrigglesworth says.

The vehicle was found to have been recently stolen and was consistent in description to the getaway car.

He says police continue to investigate video surveillance and the vehicle, with no suspects at this time.
