Heavy rain may have played a part in fatal crash in Peachland, B.C.

PEACHLAND, B.C. – One person has been killed and another has critical injuries following a head-on crash on Highway 97 in Peachland, B.C.

The collision occurred Monday evening on the west side of Okanagan Lake, about 30 kilometres south of Kelowna, when a Pontiac SUV crossed the centre line and slammed into an oncoming cube van.

The 33-year-old Sicamous man driving the SUV died at the scene.

A woman, believed to be from Penticton, was driving the cube van and remains in hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

Names of the drivers have not been released and RCMP are still investigating a cause.

They say poor weather may have played a role and they want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the accident. (CHBC)
