VANCOUVER – The B.C. Lions acquired Canadian centre Tim O’Neill from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Tuesday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2016 CFL Draft.
O’Neill played 72 consecutive regular-season games for the Ticats over the last four years. He made Grey Cup appearances in 2013 and 2014.
“Tim is an experienced centre who helps us change the ratio on offence and further solidifies that position group,” Lions coach and GM Wally Buono said in a release.
O’Neill, 36, was selected in the third round of the 2005 CFL Draft by the Edmonton Eskimos.
The six-foot-three 305-pound Victoria native played four years with Calgary and won a Grey Cup with the Stampeders in 2008.
The Lions also announced that centre Jason Foster has been released. He started all 18 regular-season games last year and played in the Western semifinal.
