Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,867.16, up 312.18 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up 19 cents, or 21.11 per cent, to $1.09 on 27.9 million shares. The struggling plane and train builder announced a major streamlining of operations, saying it was cutting 7,000 jobs while also announcing a deal to sell up to 75 of its new CSeries jetliners to Air Canada.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up $1, or 25.58 per cent, to $4.91 on 12 million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Up $1.32, or 18.59 per cent, to $8.42 on 11.3 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 20 cents, or 7.94 per cent, to $2.72 on 10.9 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial Services. Up $1.25, or 7.52 per cent, to $17.88 on 9.5 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down five cents, or 1.45 per cent, to $3.41 on 7.6 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Air Canada (TSX:AC). Airline. Down $1.02, or 12.13 per cent, to $7.39 on 5.2 million shares. Canada’s largest airline reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $116 million, up from a $100-million loss a year earlier, although it posted adjusted net income for all of 2015 at a record $1.2 billion, more than double the previous record of $531 million set in 2014.
