‘Dirt Hill’ in downtown Kelowna will remain vacant for the foreseeable future

KELOWNA – The development of a piece of prime real estate in downtown Kelowna has waited over a decade, but will have to wait longer.

A rezoning application and development plans for the so-called Dirt Hill property on Sunset Drive across from Prospera Place was scheduled for first reading at Monday's council meeting, but was removed from the agenda yesterday afternoon, Jan. 12.

City staff say the item was been removed from the meeting agenda because the report contained outdated drawings.

The property has been vacant since plans to build a Westin Hotel were halted in 2005.

The proposal is expected back at city council in a few months time.
