Traffic stop near Chase nets cops $250,000 in drugs including THC-laced gummy bears

KAMLOOPS – A traffic stop on the Trans Canada near near Chase turned into a major drug bust this week.

Kamloops RCMP say a Regina man is facing numerous drug-related charges after he was caught with $250,000 worth of marijuana and THC-laced products.

The drugs were found during a traffic stop on the Trans Canada west of Chase at about 1:30 p.m Wedneday, Jan. 11, according to a RCMP media release. Police pulled over an eastbound vehicle with Saskatchewan plates.

"During the interaction with the driver the investigating officer entered into a drug investigation," Cpl. Jean-Rene Michaud says in the release. "The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted."

Michaud says police found 28 kilograms of marijuana, two cases of a THC drink and bags of gummy bears laced with THC.

A 31-year-old Regina man was released from custody but is scheduled to appear in Kamloops court on May 25 to face several drug charges.
