Kamloops man arrested in Golden for drug possession

KAMLOOPS – Three people including a man from Kamloops have been arrested in Golden after police received information about individuals travelling with a handgun and stolen property.

Golden-Field RCMP say in a media release the trio was arrested on Jan. 6. After receiving the information, officers quickly located the vehicle in the parking lot of a local motel.

The vehicle and its occupants were searched, according to Const. Spencer Lainchbury. The search resulted in the seizure two sets of brass knuckles, one with an attached knife, and what police believe to be stolen copper wire.

A 26-year-old man from Carstairs, Alberta was arrested for possession of stolen property and two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in relation to the brass knuckles. A 28-year-old woman fromm Golden, who is known to police, was also arrested for possession of stolen property, police say.

"Police then obtained authority to search the third passenger’s motel room at which point police allege they located and seized a small amount of methamphetamine," Lainchbury says in the release.

The third man, a 40-year-old from Kamloops, was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

All three are scheduled to appear in court in Golden on March 7.
