Judge denies request to delay Bill Cosby’s wife’s deposition

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A federal judge in Massachusetts has rejected a request by lawyers for Bill Cosby’s wife to delay a deposition scheduled for next week.

Camille Cosby is slated to answer questions under oath in a defamation lawsuit brought against her husband by seven women who say he sexually assaulted them decades ago.

The women allege Cosby defamed them by branding them liars after they went public with allegations of sexual assault. Cosby has denied their allegations and filed a countersuit.

Lawyers for the Cosbys attempted to quash the deposition subpoena, arguing Camille Cosby doesn’t have any relevant information on the women’s claims. They also say her conversations with her husband are confidential under the state’s marital disqualification rule.

The judge ruled Camille Cosby’s deposition must go ahead Monday.
