Skiing, skating and swimming activities taking place this weekend in South Okanagan

PENTICTON – It’s a seasonal crossover weekend in Penticton and the South Okanagan with winter events on the ski slopes and skating rink, and swimming at the community centre.

The B.C. Timber Tour is behing held on Friday Jan. 20 to Sunday, Jan. 22  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Apex Mountain Resort.

A Canadian Freestyle Ski Association event with certified judges and officials features athletes competing in Olympic mogul big air and slop style events. Top athletes earn a spot in the Canadian Junior National Championships. Go to www.bcfreestyle.com for more information.

The Penticton Vees take on the West Kelowna Warriors at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21. Cost is $13 adults, $11 seniors, students and children under 18 are free. Tickets can be purchased at Valley First Box Office, online at ValleyFirstTix.com, or over the phone at 1-877-763-2849.

Recreation Penticton hosts Splash ’n Dash on Jan. 22. Children and adults are invited to participate in a swim-run race designed for fun and relaxation. Adults participate in a 750 metre swim and a three kilometre run, with the children’s event taking place in the leisure pool at the Penticton Community Centre Pool. Cost is $18 for adults, $13 for children, and a family pass (three members) at $40. Additional family members are $6 each.
