B.C. Mounties investigate racist emails sent to taxi firm and Indian restaurants
CHILLIWACK, B.C. – Mounties are investigating what they say are disturbing, racist emails sent to three Chilliwack, B.C. businesses.
Police say the first incident was reported by the owner of an Indian restaurant on Feb. 28, who also reported that eggs were thrown at his house and animal bones were left at his door around the same time he received the email.
The owners of a taxi company and second Indian restaurant stepped forward on Sunday and Monday reporting similar emails after learning of the first incident through the media.
All three emails were sent from the same anonymous address.
RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth says after the first incident was reported their investigator responded to the email and received an anonymous apology in reply.
But Hollingsworth says they want the person’s name and police aren’t discounting the fact that these incidents might be motivated by hate.
