WATERTOWN, Mass. – Producers of a Mark Wahlberg movie about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing want to recreate the police shootout with the Tsarnaev (tsahr-NEYE’-ehv) brothers in the Watertown neighbourhood where it happened.
Representatives for “Patriots Day” sent fliers to residents of Laurel Street this month asking for their co-operation in obtaining permission to film on their street.
The flier says the project would include a week of preparation in April and a week of nighttime filming in May that could include loud noises like simulated gunfire.
Watertown Assistant Town Manager Steve Magoon confirmed the producers are seeking permission from the town. The request was first reported by Watertown News.
The confrontation on April 19, 2013, resulted in the death of Tamerlan Tsarnaev (TAM’-ehr-luhn tsahr-NEYE’-ehv) and injuries to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR’ tsahr-NEYE’-ehv), who was later apprehended.
