Head-on collision in South Okanagan sends three to hospital
KALEDEN – Weather conditions may have factored in a two vehicle collision in the South Okanagan that sent three to hospital and resulted in a highway closure last night.
Kaleden Volunteer Fire Chief Darlene Bailey says the department responded to a head-on collision on Highway 3A at about 5:10 p.m. yesterday, Jan 22, between Sheep Creek Road and the Yellow Lake Rest Area to find one person trapped in the wreckage.
Bailey says extrication tools were used to free the victim, who was transported to hospital with two others.
Highway 3A was shut down for three hours between Keremeos and the Highway 97 junction as rescue and emergency crews attended the scene.
Bailey says weather conditions were wet, with rain and snow falling throughout the evening.
