3 police officers killed outside Mexico’s Guadalajara

MEXICO CITY – Three police officers for a wealthy suburb of the Mexican city of Guadalajara have been killed in a daytime attack.

Maria Elena Limon, mayor of Tlaquepaque, says in a statement on her Twitter account that the officers were killed by attackers on a major avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Limon expressed her sorrow and indignation and promised to support the victims’ families.

The Jalisco state prosecutor’s office said through its official Twitter account that it was conducting an operation by “land and air” to find those responsible.

A spokesman in the prosecutor’s office said they did not immediately have any information to share late Wednesday.
