EDMONTON – Quebec’s Jean-Michel Menard stays in the hunt for a playoff spot at the Canadian men’s curling championship.
Quebec defeated Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming 8-5 to improve its record to 6-2.
Defending champion Glenn Howard of Ontario was 7-0, Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador was 7-1 and Jeff Stoughton of Manitoba was 6-1 with two draws remaining in the day.
Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs fell 7-6 in an extra end to Saskatchewan’s Brock Virtue.
Jacobs dropped to 5-3 and Virtue improved to 4-4.
The top four teams at the conclusion of the round robin Friday advance to the Page playoffs. Ties for fourth will be solved by tiebreaker games.
